The Braun Decapitating Hook is used to decapitate the fetus after fetal demise inside the womb to aid vaginal delivery in obstructed labor, antepartum hemorrhage, uterine atony and maternal exhaustion. The instrument consists of a bulbed hook that is attached to a rod and then to a handle with an overall length of 30 cm. The obstetrician inserts the Braun Decapitating Hook into the vagina to lodge around the fetus and decapitate it to aid delivery.
